The closing spot price for West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the U.S. benchmark for light, sweet crude, averaged $68.57 per barrel in September ’21, up from $40.30 for the same period in ’20, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). September ’21 marked the seventh month in a row when prices averaged over $60.


Monthly update: home sales

Houston-area realtors sold 9,226 single-family homes in September ’21, up 1.5 percent from the same month last year, according to the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR).

Houston’s recovery continued to strengthen in September, according to the most recent Houston Purchasing Managers Index (PMI).
