Houston Firefighters Relief & Retirement Fund Personnel and Procedures Committee met Nov. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

A meeting of the Personnel and Procedures Committee of the whole Board of Trustees of the Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement Fund convened at the Fund offices located at 4225 Interwood North Parkway, Houston, Texas 77032 on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 9:47 a.m.

Trustees present were Lisa R. Slagle (Committee Chair), Brett R. Besselman, David O. Lantrip, Pete Ng, Edward Llewellyn, Arif Rasheed, and Albertino Mays. Also present were staff members Adam Smith (Executive Director/General Counsel), Ajit Singh (Chief Investment Officer), Claudia McInnis (Director of Finance and Administration), Dalia De La Cruz (Director of Member Services), Andrea Sharayha (Director of Human Resources), and John D. Moore II (Director of Technology and Building Services).

The Committee Chair called the meeting to order at 9:47 a.m. and invited comments from the public. No comments were received.

The Executive Director explained that Fund policy requires the committee to be notified of any increase in the staff’s health insurance premium. While insurance premiums are decreasing this year, it is anticipated that there will be increases for calendar year 2027.

The Executive Director, with additional comments from Brett R. Besselman, reviewed the changes to the Pension Benefits policies regarding random re-examinations of disability recipients.

There was a motion by Albertino Mays, seconded by Arif Rasheed, to approve the changes to the Pension Benefits Policies regarding random re-examinations of disability recipients, as presented. The motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 9:51 a.m. on a motion by Brett R. Besselman, seconded by Pete Ng. The motion carried.
