Brock Murphy, co-founder and CEO of Parent ProTech, has highlighted the risks associated with children having online access. He said that Parent ProTech can assist parents in preventing potential problems before they arise. Murphy shared these insights with Houston Daily.

"Online risks evolve quickly, and families can't navigate them alone," said Murphy, CEO & Co-Founder. "We give parents the tools to stay ahead, and we teach students how to make safe, healthy choices online. When parents and students are educated together, kids thrive—and crises are prevented before they ever start."

According to Parent ProTech, there is an increasing gap between parents' knowledge of technology and children's usage of it. The company offers tools and guidance to help caregivers ensure children's online safety.

In a YouTube conversation, Murphy explained that content access and entertainment are easily available, leading parents to rely on monitoring apps for managing their children's online activities. However, he noted that these apps might become inadequate as updates to platforms and operating systems introduce new loopholes.

Murphy pointed out a common mistake among parents: adopting a passive approach once a device is handed over to a child. He advised that parents should remain engaged and vigilant, highlighting hidden social features in seemingly educational or utilitarian apps such as Duolingo, Scratch, Roblox, Cash App, and Bible App, which have had loopholes allowing communication or content sharing.

"We believe the strongest safeguard a child has is an informed parent," said Murphy. "Technology evolves fast, and families deserve clear, practical guidance so they can stay a step ahead and create a safer digital world for their kids. That's how we step in and support at Parent ProTech."

Murphy further said that Parent ProTech assists Texas families and educators in fostering healthier relationships with technology. Instead of ignoring children's involvement in the digital world, he encourages parents to educate themselves and adopt a proactive approach to their kids’ online safety by providing tools to enhance parental awareness.
