Governor Abbott appoints new members to Texas Medical Board district review committees

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed three individuals to serve on Texas Medical Board District Review Committees. Sharon Carr and Dr. Mark Edwards have been named to the District Three Review Committee, with terms ending January 15, 2026, and January 15, 2028, respectively. Dr. David Lindzey will join the District Four Review Committee for a term concluding on January 15, 2030.

Sharon Carr is retired and resides in Canadian. She previously led the Hemphill County Juvenile Bootcamp as director and currently serves as vice president of the board for Hemphill County Hospital. Carr also volunteers with Meals on Wheels and holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Mark Edwards is based in Sonora and works as medical director at Shannon Clinic Urgent Care Centers. He holds certifications from the American Board of Family Medicine and the Board of Certification in Urgent Care Medicine under the American Board of Physician Specialties. Edwards is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine and belongs to the Southern Medical Association. His community involvement includes serving on the advisory board for the Health Environmental Learning Program and acting as president and trustee at Lighthouse Community Church of Sonora. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Texas A&M University and received his medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine.

Dr. David Lindzey practices medicine at Ascension Physician Group in Spicewood. He is affiliated with the Texas Medical Association and has previously served on boards for both the Texas Hospital Association and Volunteer Hospitals of America. Lindzey holds degrees in Biology (B.A.) and Medical Technology (B.S.) from The University of Texas at Austin, along with a Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Medical Center.
