The University of Houston has received several national awards for its marketing, communications, and storytelling efforts over the past year. The recognition spans multiple organizations, highlighting achievements by the Division of University Marketing and Communications as well as the Division of Student Affairs.

This year, both divisions were honored by the Public Relations Society of America Houston chapter for their work in public relations and storytelling. Additional honors came from the American Marketing Association Houston and The Communicator Awards for outstanding achievement in marketing and creative projects.

“These awards reflect the creativity, expertise and dedication of our talented teams,” said Lisa Holdeman, vice president for marketing and communications. “Through strategic storytelling and thoughtful engagement, our communications professionals consistently showcase the University of Houston’s excellence and value to audiences across Texas and beyond.”

Communications teams from various UH colleges also earned recognition from collegiate and industry-specific organizations. Collectively, these teams received 12 gold, 22 silver, and 3 bronze awards along with specialty commendations.

“These well-deserved honors underscore UH’s commitment to excellence in communication and our mission to share stories that inspire pride and connect our community,” Holdeman added.

At the PRSA Houston Excalibur Awards, UH was recognized with a Gold award for its March Madness social media campaign during the 2024 NCAA Tournament. The university also won Bronze awards for its magazine featuring research achievements in artificial intelligence and interstellar science, as well as an annual report highlighting student affairs progress.

The American Marketing Association Houston Crystal Awards presented four honors to UH. These included a holiday card campaign featuring alumnus “H-Town Frankie” with President Renu Khator; an institutional video viewed more than 15 million times; a national commercial on superconductivity research; and a peer-to-peer direct marketing campaign aimed at strengthening UH’s reputation among academic leaders nationwide.

UH also received distinction from The Communicator Awards for print content in its Fall 2024 Magazine issue, which was recognized for connecting readers with global research leadership and campus culture.

In advertising competitions such as the Collegiate Advertising Awards, Content Marketing Awards, Educational Advertising Awards, Education Digital Marketing Awards, and International Parking & Mobility Institute Awards, UH collected numerous accolades across categories including digital content creation, web banners, email campaigns, social media initiatives, magazine publishing, event promotion, mobility innovation programs (https://www.parking-mobility.org/), technology-driven parking services (https://uh.edu/af-university-services/parking/), among others.
