The University of Houston has distinguished itself as a leading institution in graduate education, with 15 programs included in the top 50 of U.S. News & World Report's “Best Graduate Schools” rankings for 2025, announced today.
Three specialty programs, two of which are at the UH Law Center, achieved placements in the top 10 nationwide. These are: part-time law at No. 5, petroleum engineering at No. 7, and health care law at No. 9.
“Our graduate programs continue to demonstrate exceptional value for our students,” stated Diane Z. Chase, UH Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. “With 16 programs ranking among the best in the nation, including three in the top 10, the University of Houston remains a choice destination for master’s, doctoral and professional students. I credit the success of these programs to the faculty and staff members leading them, as well as our students who emerge from our institution ready for the workforce.”
Overall, nine specialty programs at the UH Law Center ranked in the top 50. This includes three programs—part-time law, health care law, and legal writing—that were also ranked No. 1 in the state of Texas.
Highlighted in the top 50 rankings, the program positions include:

Additionally, UH earned “Best Of” recognition in three graduate programs: Best Law Schools, Best Engineering Schools, and Best Education Schools.
