One of the University of Houston's major student business competitions, Wolffest, is scheduled to return to Butler Plaza from April 8-10. Hosted by the Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship (WCE), Wolffest features pop-up food businesses, entertainment, and attracts thousands of visitors.
Seven teams of WCE students will compete to raise the most funds over the three days. The teams include Backyard Wolves led by senior Erica Parkinson, Cougar Dynasty led by senior DJ Buenaventura, H-Toon led by senior Daniel Sadegi, Neo Wolff led by senior Matteo Sharp, Nosh led by junior Lexavier Richey, The Snack Shack led by junior Paulina Gonzalez, and Wolff District led by senior Billy Eaton.
The Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship, located at the C. T. Bauer College of Business, is an 18-month program that was named by The Princeton Review as a Top School for Entrepreneurship for the sixth consecutive year in November 2024.
"Wolffest is the ultimate test for our Wolff students. It’s three days that students will remember for the rest of their lives," said WCE Executive Director Dave Cook. "Years of learning, relationships and ideas are put to the test in a real world competition."
Participating students engage in leadership roles, collaborate with local vendors, and address challenges as they arise. After the event, the winning teams will be announced during the Wolffest Celebration Dinner on April 24. The funds raised support scholarships and programs for future Wolff Center students. Last year, the event generated $210,000.
Interviews with student entrepreneurs will be available at the event, and interviews with Wolff Center leaders can be scheduled.
Wolffest is scheduled from April 9-11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Butler Plaza in front of the MD Anderson Library. Entry is free, with food and beverages sold individually.
