The University of Houston (UH) has established a new partnership with Delhi Technological University (DTU) in India. This collaboration is formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which will last for five years, with an option to renew in 2030.

The agreement was signed by UH Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Diane Z. Chase, UH Cullen College of Engineering Dean Pradeep Sharma, DTU Vice Chancellor Prateek Sharma, and DTU Dean of International Affairs Pravir Kumar on March 20. Attendees included UH President Renu Khator, UH System Regent Durga Agrawal, and several DTU delegates.

Diane Z. Chase stated, “The University of Houston collaborates with top institutions around the globe, and DTU is no exception. This partnership is a win-win opportunity for both universities and the communities they serve. I look forward to a long, prosperous relationship with one of India’s most reputable academies.”

The collaboration will focus on educational and research activities such as exchanging visiting scholars for research purposes and sharing scholarly information through various publications. Additionally, students will have opportunities for paid internships and co-ops facilitated by the host university.

Pradeep Sharma remarked, “This MOU will allow us to dramatically increase the number of our Master’s program students. Many of these students may also stay longer to do their Ph.D.”

This partnership is part of UH's ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with Indian institutions. In recent years, UH has supported initiatives such as establishing Doctor of Nursing Practice programs at Indian schools and collaborating on geoscience data projects.

Delhi Technological University specializes in science, technology, engineering, management, and allied fields. It offers 17 undergraduate programs and 35 postgraduate programs along with Ph.D. opportunities. The university maintains partnerships with global institutions like Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and La Trobe University in Australia.

Pradeep Sharma noted the benefits of this collaboration: “Our students will benefit from an exciting international collaboration through exchange programs.” He emphasized India's position as one of the fastest-growing economies globally.
