Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Texas Music Office (TMO) and the City of Fate will host a Music Friendly Texas Community workshop on February 24. This event, available both in-person and online, aims to foster music industry development in local communities.

“Music is key to the Texas brand and to our local economies,” said Governor Abbott. He expressed gratitude to the Texas Music Office for assisting communities across Texas in developing creative partnerships and creating new jobs. "With support from the Texas Music Office, the Texas music industry accounts for 196,000 direct and indirect permanent jobs and generates over $31.7 billion in annual economic activity statewide," he added. Abbott emphasized working with local leaders like those in Fate to ensure community success.

Gini Mascorro, TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist, will participate in the workshop. She will discuss the benefits of obtaining a Music Friendly Texas Community designation and address any questions.

The Music Friendly Texas program, introduced by TMO in 2016, was the first of its kind nationwide. It provides a network for fostering music industry growth and signals to industry professionals that certified communities are committed to attracting music-related opportunities. The workshop is an initial step toward certification; once completed, Fate will join over 70 other certified cities in Texas.

Musicians, venues, and members of the public are encouraged to attend either physically or virtually.
