Parent Empowerment Night | Office of Governor Greg Abbott

Governor Greg Abbott expressed strong support for school choice during a Parent Empowerment Night at San Antonio Christian School. He emphasized the goal of making Texas a leader in education.

"We are on a mission this session to improve education," Governor Abbott stated. "We want school choice where every parent can choose, not just wealthy parents, but for every parent in the state of Texas. We will end this session ensuring public schools are better than they have ever been, increase teacher pay to an all-time high, and get back to the basics of learning to achieve academic excellence. Texas is on the pathway to deliver the best education in America. A pathway where we empower parents through school choice."

The event was attended by several key figures including Speaker Dustin Burrows, Representative Greg Bonnen, Representative Brad Buckley, Representative Mark Dorazio, Representative Marc LaHood, Representative John Lujan, Texas Public Policy Foundation Campaign Director Mandy Drogin, Head of SACS Rob Brown, SACS Board of Directors Chairman Jon McDowell, and SACS Board Member Rob Green.

Governor Abbott addressed more than 600 parents and supporters at the gathering. He acknowledged Speaker Burrows for his efforts toward passing school choice legislation and noted that Representative Buckley plans to introduce such legislation in the Texas House soon. Governor Abbott also mentioned that most Texans across various regions support expanding school choice.

Additionally, he shared his vision for making Texas a leading state in education by empowering parents and investing in quality teachers while ensuring students receive top-notch academic experiences.
