Governor Greg Abbott has amended and renewed a disaster proclamation initially issued on July 8, 2022, addressing the ongoing drought conditions in Texas. The Texas Division of Emergency Management confirmed that these conditions persist across several counties, excluding Comal, Comanche, Denton, Gillespie, Hamilton, Hemphill, and Lipscomb.

In response to the continued threat posed by the drought, Governor Abbott declared a disaster in numerous counties including Aransas, Archer, Atascosa, Bandera, Bastrop, Bee, Bexar among others. "I authorize the use of all available resources of state government and of political subdivisions that are reasonably necessary to cope with this disaster," stated Abbott.

Furthermore, Governor Abbott has authorized the suspension of any regulatory statutes or rules that could hinder necessary actions during this emergency. This includes any state statute or administrative rule related to contracting or procurement that might impede emergency responses essential for protecting life or property.

The proclamation will be filed with relevant authorities as required by law. The official signing took place on October 26th in Austin.
