Houston Independent School District (HISD) has announced the members of its Bond Oversight Committee, which will oversee the progress and implementation of a proposed bond. The committee comprises 13 members and two alternates, all residents and taxpayers within HISD. The committee members come from diverse fields including accounting, construction, engineering, government, education, law, finance, edtech, and energy.

"After a thoughtful process, the Board has established a Bond Oversight Committee of committed Houstonians who have the experience and skills necessary to provide meaningful oversight," stated HISD School Board President Audrey Momanaee.

The committee includes individuals with varied expertise such as Andy Canales from Broadtree Partners and Latinos for Education; Andy Chan, former Mayor of Southside Place; Bob Eury from Central Houston Inc.; Chris Brown, Houston City Controller; Christopher Cola, CPA; Daria Wenas from Ernst & Young LLP; Felix Chevalier, attorney; Lauren Haller Fontaine from Pattern Energy; Marcos Rosales from Beck Redden LLP; Mark Mallette formerly of Freeport LNG; Michael Davis of Brooks & Davis Real Estate Firm LLC; Taylor Chapman from New Climate Ventures; and Dr. Wendell Robbins III of W.A. Robbins Construction Co., Inc.

Alternate members are Jarred Morgan from AG Consulting Partners and Karen Duffy with extensive community volunteer experience.

The committee's formation is part of HISD's efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in managing public funds should the bond be approved in November.
