HISD announces campus hiring event for June 12

The Houston Independent School District (HISD) Teacher Recruitment and Selection Team will host a 2024-2025 Campus Hiring Event on Wednesday, June 12, from 3-7 p.m. at Delmar Fieldhouse, located at 2020 Mangum Road.

K-12 educators are invited to learn about Team HISD and the ongoing student-centered initiatives. Key compensation highlights include:

- Non-NES starting teacher salary: $64,000

- NES elementary starting teacher salary: $75,435

- NES middle school starting teacher salary: $80,059

- NES high school starting teacher salary: $82,816

- Special Education, Non-NES starting teacher salary: $80,000

- Special Education, NES starting teacher salary: $86,000

- Bilingual teacher stipend: $5,000

By the 2025-2026 school year, HISD aims for the average teacher salary to reach $75,000.

The event will feature both NES and non-NES campuses and is open to various positions including teachers (including Art of Thinking), assistant principals, counselors, librarians/media specialists, nurses, office support staff, teacher assistants, teacher apprentices, and learning coaches.

External applicants must complete an online application and the SSN number second step prior to arrival. Failure to do so may delay or prohibit schools from extending offers. Applications can be completed at www.houstonisd.org/careers. Applicants should have digital copies of their resumes and service records ready to share with hiring managers and Human Resources staff.

Internal HISD applicants in Chapter 21 contract positions are not eligible to attend as the HISD Transfer Period closed on April 26, 2024. Further details are available via MyHISD.

Registered candidates will receive two email communications the day before the event after 3 p.m., including a QR code for admittance and final event logistics such as check-in times and current vacancies.
