The University of Texas (UT) Longhorns are gearing up for a pivotal match against the University of Washington (UW) Huskies, a game that could secure them a spot in the College Football Playoff National Championship. This is a situation reminiscent of a decade ago, marking the beginning of the University of Alabama's dynasty.

The importance of this game is not lost on the Longhorns or their head coach Steve Sarkisian, who once coached for the Huskies. According to ESPN, UT views this match as part of a revenge tour, aiming to add another national crown to their 2005 victory. The network reported that UW had previously defeated the Longhorns in 2022.

Longhorns defender Barryn Sorrell expressed his team's determination to ESPN: "It's for all the guys that were here during that 5-7 year. We took some very tough losses and we took some very tough criticism behind it as well, so taking those moments and using it as fuel to get these wins."

However, Sports Illustrated has reported potential setbacks for UT; one of Quinn Ewers' favorite targets, wideout Xavier Worthy, may be unable to play due to an ankle injury. Despite not being fully recovered, Worthy confirmed his intention to participate in the game. Should UT triumph over UW, they will face either Michigan or Alabama for college football’s grand prize a week later.
