Houston Texans' rookie quarterback, C.J. Stroud, was notably absent during the team's 19-16 road victory over the Tennessee Titans. The game was a significant event as the Titans had chosen to wear vintage Houston Oilers uniforms, a decision that stirred emotions in America's fourth-largest city. After two weeks of successfully clearing concussion protocol, Stroud, who was last year's second overall pick, seems prepared to face Houston's former team himself.

The timing of Stroud’s return could not be more critical as Houston remains in contention for the playoffs. The Texans are currently tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts, all holding 8-6 records as they enter the penultimate week of the 2023 regular season. According to NBC Sports, the team with the best record among them at the end of next week is likely to be crowned American Football Conference (AFC) South champion. Overall, Stroud missed two games after suffering a concussion against the New York Jets.

During Stroud’s absence, journeyman signal-caller and ex-University of Houston star Case Keenum took over under center for the Buckeye alum. As reported by Houston Daily, Keenum delivered a performance of 229 passing yards, a score and a pick-six against the Titans while being limited to single-yardage passing against the Cleveland Browns at home on Christmas Eve.

NBC Sports also reports that alongside Stroud's return are wideouts Nico Collins and Noah Brown as well as offensive linemen Laremy Tunsil and Shaq Mason.
