The new owner of the record for most passing yards thrown by a rookie quarterback in a single game, the Houston Texans’ C.J. Stroud has been named the American Football Conference (AFC) Offensive Player of the Week for Week 9. Stroud, whom the Texans selected with the second overall pick of last spring’s draft, threw for 470 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions to guide Houston to a 39-37 come-from-behind home victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 5.

According to a report on the Texans’ website, "the highlight of Stroud’s career day was the game-winning drive in the final 46 seconds of the contest to down Tampa Bay. Stroud made the best of two timeouts to throw his fifth and final touchdown toss to fellow rookie Nathaniel “Tank” Dell," said Houston Daily citing a report from NFL.com that placed Stroud as the front-runner for the 2023 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

In another part of town, many NFL players took to social media to shower praise on this talented player. LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers forward showed his admiration for Stroud with three shout emojis via his Twitter account. On top of that, "The Houston Rockets chose Stroud to shoot the ceremonial first shot at their game against James’s Lakers on Nov. 8", said according to information provided by Texans' X account.

"The Texans will head up north to Cincinnati to face Bengals on Nov.12," says Texans' website statement predicting that if they secure a win it would place them above .500 mark for their first time this season.
