Sysco Corporation has announced that its Central Florida and North Texas facilities have been granted contracts to function as comprehensive Commercial Driver's License (CDL) test sites. This move is part of Sysco's efforts to increase the number of qualified drivers within the company and boost their earnings potential. Sysco's Operations Academy ensures that all incoming delivery partners are familiar with the "Sysco Way" of ensuring safety and delivering exceptional customer service.

According to a press release by Sysco Corporation, the company now has a total of four sites that have achieved the designation of CDL test sites, including locations in Baltimore and Denver. Sysco is pioneering in-house training to provide its current employees with opportunities for career advancement through CDL certification.

Sysco Central Florida recently achieved a 100% pass rate for its first group of trainees, who will begin their careers as Delivery Partner Trainees. Sysco North Texas is also preparing to test its initial batch of students in November.

“Sysco is leading the industry and creating programs that equip employees with the knowledge and skills needed to build their career and grow their earning potential,” said Dan Purefoy, Chief Supply Chain Officer, according to a press release by Sysco Corporation. “All together, CDL candidates can train, test and get on the job in about four weeks, at no cost. We are thrilled with the impact of the program and the benefits it’s providing to our company, our colleagues, and our customers.”

Obtaining a CDL involves passing thorough skills and knowledge examinations tailored to meet heightened standards, as outlined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). CDL holders are also required to maintain an elevated performance level when driving any type of motor vehicle on public roads. Significant traffic violations by a CDL holder can impact their ability to retain their CDL certification, according to the FMCSA CDL website.

Sysco's expansion of CDL testing sites in Texas and Florida demonstrates the company's commitment to providing career advancement opportunities for its employees and ensuring the highest standards of safety and customer service in its operations.
