The Houston Astros is retaining its broadcast team for the 2023 season, per a franchise-issued press release

Astros television broadcasters Todd Kalas, Geoff Blum and Julia Morales and radio broadcasters Robert Ford and Steve Sparks return with a combined 40 years of experience behind the mike, the team said.

Astros senior vice president of communications and marketing Anita Sehgal said in the release the organization is “extremely excited” about the entire broadcast team coming back for the World Series title defense.

The Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies last November four games to two in the Fall Classic to capture their second Major League Baseball (MLB) crown in a five-year span.

“The connection they have built with our fans and community over the past several years is truly unique and special,” Sehgal said. “We expect another exciting season of Astros baseball in 2023 and are thrilled that our outstanding broadcast team will be back to call the action.”

According to the Astros, Kalas, the son of legendary Phillies commentator Harry Kalas, will enter his seventh season as the team’s play-by-play man while Blum, a former Astros infielder, is slated to provide color commentary for an 11th season.

The upcoming campaign will mark Morales’ 11th season working from the sidelines as the on-field reporter, the team said.

Ford and Sparks will take their places in the radio booth for an 11th year, with the former performing play-by-play duties and the latter color commentary, per the release.

The Astros announced on Tuesday that Ford, a New York native, is one of two recipients of the National Sports Media Association’s (NSMA) 2022 Texas Sportscaster of the Year Award along with Dallas Mavericks broadcaster Chuck Cooperstein.

Ford is well-known for repeatedly yelling, “See you later!” whenever an Astros player hits a home run (HR).
