Houston Christian University (HCU) has been implicated in litigation arising from claims one of its former track coaches engaged in sexual misconduct, per reports from Houston-based media outlets.

At least two lawsuits were filed against the institution formerly known as Houston Baptist University in a week’s span, Houston NBC affiliate KPRC reported.

Houston Public Media (HPM) reported that the first suit was filed on Friday.

Its unidentified female complainant explains in court documents that Sesar Figueroa, the university’s ex-associate head track coach and recruiting coordinator, allegedly expressed a fondness for young girls, but the school failed to address the behavior in question.

HCU and Figueroa are co-defendants in the legal complaint.

According to the second and most recent suit filed on Tuesday, KPRC reported, another anonymous female plaintiff asserts that Figueroa forced himself upon her.

The case further claims Figueroa acted aggressive toward the complainant when she rejected his advances.

He purportedly promised employment and more competitive advantages in exchange for sexual favors, per court papers.

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee serves as the women’s legal counsel, per KPRC.

Buzbee told the station it’s likely more victims will come forward.

“We have eight clients right now, perhaps more,” he said. “We did what we could to try to resolve this without civil litigation and we got nowhere with the university.”
