The Houston Texans joined the rest of the National Football League (NFL) on Monday in expressing support and concern for Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who went into cardiac arrest after he made a tackle in a primetime game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Sending our thoughts and prayers to @HamlinIsland and the @BuffaloBills,” the Texans said in a tweet.

A report on the NFL’s website said the Bills made the announcement regarding the 24-year-old Hamlin’s condition on Tuesday.

Hamlin tackled Bengals wideout Tee Higgins a little more than halfway through the first quarter when the former arose and then collapsed, according to the report.

Play had to be stopped so medical staff could administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to Hamlin, who was a 2021 sixth-round pick of the Bills.

Per the Bills’ Twitter account, Hamlin’s heartbeat was restored on the field and first responders rushed the former Pittsburgh Panther to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, which is near the Bengals’ home stadium, for further testing and treatment.

As of press time, Hamlin is listed in critical condition.

The Bengals held a 7-3 lead at the time the NFL decided to ultimately postpone the contest.

According to CBS Sports, Hamlin’s agent, Ira Turner, issued a statement appealing for prayers for his client and his family.

CBS Sports reported that the other 31 NFL franchises used their social media platforms to voice their support for Hamlin and the Bills.

“We will provide more information as it becomes available,” the league said in a statement, per ABC News.
