Senior Klein Forest rusher Parker Jenkins took to social media on Saturday to announce that he’ll continue his academic and athletic careers closer to home.

The four-star recruit tweeted that he has pledged with the University of Houston (UH).

“[One hundred] percent committed,” Jenkins proclaimed with a clip of him in a Cougars jersey.

VYPE Houston reported that the 5-foot-10, 185-pound Jenkins visited UH during the last weekend of July.

According to the high school sports website, the Cougars received a commitment from an athlete who possesses speed and versatility.

Under newly extended head coach Dana Holgorsen, UH last year compiled a 12-2 overall record on the way to defeating Auburn 17-13 in the Birmingham Bowl.

Among those excited for Jenkins’ pledge is his coach at Klein Forest, Jonathan Wilson.

“We are so proud of this young man and everything he has accomplished academically and athletically,” Wilson tweeted. “Continue to work hard at everything you do and sky is the limit!!”

According to Jenkins, VYPE Houston reported, his family factored into his decision to commit to UH.

"It's exciting,” he told the website. “I’m a family guy so it means a lot for my family not to have to travel far, it is a blessing and an honor.”

Jenkins is part of a UH recruitment class that counts four-star wideout Matthew Golden of rival Klein Cain and Fort Bend Marshall receiver Ja’koby Banks, per VYPE Houston.

“Be ready for us to take off,” Jenkins said, according to the website.

The report said that he chose UH over schools such as Penn State and LSU.
