A Houston-area Little League softball team is in the midst of a historic postseason run and is requesting the public to help it continue its journey, according to a report from Houston ABC affiliate KTRK.

The station reported that East End Little League girls senior softball team punched its ticket on Sunday for a regional tournament in Pineville, Louisiana, this weekend.

A first for the players and the coaches, they have a few days to come up with funds to take care of travel expenses, per KTRK.

The league’s president, Richard Duran, told the station that the costs are steep for most on the newly crowned state championship squad.

"We had over 200 kids this season, and to see their smiles on their faces for us to travel this far it's a lot," Duran said, KTRK reported. "Some of them cried, but it's a once-in-a-lifetime good thing. We want to do it for the girls and give them a good experience of playing hard out there."

According to the East End Little League’s Facebook page, contributions to the league can be made in any amount.

Acceptable forms of payment include cash, check, CashApp and Zelle.

Donations made through CashApp can be sent to $MTCPA0 while Zelle users can send theirs to (713) 408-2965. Duran can be contacted at (832) 409-9883.

The team is fresh from a trip to El Campo where they emerged victorious at the state tournament and is the first from the league to win at that level.
