Myles Arterberry, a senior-to-be running back at Klein High School (KHS) in northwest Houston, announced on social media on Wednesday that he has committed to the U.S. Military Academy.

“I am 100% committed to Army Westpoint,” Arterberry said in a tweet that included a short clip of him in a Black Knights uniform.

A VYPE Houston report that was ran by Houston NBC affiliate KPRC said that the rusher chose Army over the two other service academies and Texas State University.

A three-year letterman for the Bearkats, Arterberry racked up 1,250 yards and 10 touchdowns on 108 touches in his junior season, according to the report.

VYPE Houston reported that he’s fresh from a visit to the service academy based in New York. West Point boasts an enrollment of approximately 4,300 cadets.

Arterberry told the high school sports website that he was drawn to the people on the football team at West Point.

“They saw me thriving at West Point,” he said. “I can be a key player.”

He added that attending the academy would be beneficial to him and his future children.

“It’s bigger than me ... the Cowboys say it, but this is really ‘America’s Team,’” Arterberry told the website.

He further explained to VYPE Houston that the education provided by Army is akin to that of an Ivy League institution.

“It’s the education that definitely brought me there,” Arterberry said, per the report. “My whole goal is to go to a highly educational school, and West Point really awarded it, especially with the name being so prestigious. I’d love to go to West Point.”

Heading into his last prep season, VYPE Houston reported, Arterberry has his sights on helping guide Klein to a district title.

“We haven’t won a district championship yet; I feel like it’s time to do that,” he told the website.
