After nearly 20 seasons of hosting fans at NRG Stadium for the NFL Draft, the Houston Texans have decided to take the party outside. The franchise will have its 2022 Draft Party at Miller Outdoor Theatre on April 28.

The Texans, who finished the 2021 season with a 4-13 record, presently have 11 picks in the upcoming three-day NFL Draft, according to a team-issued press release. The draft starts at 7 p.m., but fans will be able to enjoy activities at the on-site Fan Zone at 3 p.m.

Houston has the third and 13th overall picks in the first round.

"We're so excited to bring the Draft Party back in a new way this year," Texans president Greg Grissom said in the release. "Miller Outdoor Theatre is an iconic venue that will serve as the destination for Texans fans of all ages on the first night of the Draft as we welcome new Texans to Houston together."

The team said that the party will include live Zoom calls from newly hired head coach Lovie Smith and the selected players, special appearances by current Texans players and a multitude of food and beverage options.

The first round of the draft will be shown on the venue's main stage, and the team's radio partner, SportsRadio 610, will broadcast live from the event, the release said.

Anyone can enter the party for free and have access to the venue's lawn, according to the franchise.

Limited seating is available to season ticket, club and Texans LUXE members, and corporate partners on a first-come, first-served basis.

The team said that fans who want to upgrade their party experience can do so by purchasing a seat in the Red Zone – which faces the stage – with proceeds going toward the Houston Texans Foundation.

According to the release, free parking is available at parking lots at or near Hermann Park. The Texans also encourage attendees to use ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft or the METRORail, which makes stops near the park at its Hermann Park/Rice U and Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo stations.
