The Texas Real Estate Research Center has issued the following press release:

ATHENS, Ga. – Almost 19% of Americans surveyed by moveBuddha are planning or considering an interstate move in the 2022 calendar year.

The most important factor when deciding where to move is quality of life, which was cited as the top factor for 29.7% of respondents. Cost of living and family/friends are also big motivators, cited by 21.3 and 19.2% of those surveyed, respectively.

New Jersey is the state from which current residents are most likely to depart in 2022, with 42% of Garden State residents planning or considering to move away. New York (20%) and California (14%) followed.

On the other hand, respondents are most likely to stay put in Florida and Texas; only 3 and 5% of those states' residents expect to move out of state in 2022, respectively.

This was supported by moveBuddha's Migration Report. Last year, Florida gained 210 new residents for every 100 it lost, while Texas gained 168 for every 100 lost.
