Brazoria County authorities are currently conducting an investigation after Manvel City Councilmember Dan Davis reported his truck's brake line was intentionally cut, according to a Fox report.

Davis, who is running for Brazoria County Precinct 2 Commissioner, reported that he first encountered brake problems on Feb. 3 while exiting a gas station.

"I had to push my foot all of the way down on the pedal [to stop]," Davis said. "Even then, it was just a rolling stop that occurred."

After bringing his car in for repairs, he was informed of the damage by Cruz N Carz owner Ricky Cruz, who stated that someone attempted to "make it look like the bolt was loose, and the caliber being loose caused the [line] to break."

"It wasn’t cut by damage," Cruz stated. "It was cut, like a clean cut."

Davis has filed a police report alleging that he suspects someone intentionally severed his vehicle's brake line in an attempt to harm him or his family.

"I’m concerned if someone was intentionally doing this, what else would they have done to my vehicle that could have put my wife or kids at risk," Davis stated.

Although Davis, a Republican, is unsure why someone would damage his vehicle, he hasn't ruled out political motives, given that the truck is his campaign vehicle.

"As you can see on the side of [my] car, it says I’m a Republican," Davis stated. "Maybe it was a target because of that. Maybe, it was a target because of the position I’m running for."

Despite the fact that the damage cost Davis hundreds of dollars to repair, he says his campaign is back on schedule.

"We trust law enforcement will do what they need to do, to get to the bottom of this," Davis said. "We’re going to keep working, keep pushing, keep [sharing] our message."

Individuals with any knowledge regarding this incident are urged to contact the police.
