A Texas furniture magnate and philanthropist who goes by the household name of “Mattress Mack” has wagered a $4.5 million bet that the Cincinnati Bengals will win Super Bowl LVI over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, according to Caesars Sportsbook, placed the bet that’s considered the largest mobile wager in sports betting history. Should the Bengals win their first Super Bowl in franchise history, McIngvale will receive a payout of over $7.7 million.
“The Return of the Mack for the Super Bowl. Mattress Mack just wagered $4,534,000 on the #CaesarsSportsbook app in Louisiana on the Bengals (+170) to win over the Rams,” Caesars Sportsbook posted on Facebook on Feb. 3. “Potential win: $7,707,800. This marks the single biggest mobile wager of all-time.”
The Super Bowl will pit the Bengals against the Rams in a game that will kick off at 6:30 p.m. EST airing nationally on NBC-TV, the Bengals website said.
“The Rams square off against the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI for the right to hoist the Lombardi Trophy,” the Rams’ website said. “For the Rams, it would be their first time doing so in Los Angeles. For the Bengals, it would be their first time in franchise history.”
McIngvale, who will be 71 on Friday, Feb. 11, founded Gallery Furniture in 1981 with his wife, Linda, and $5,000, the Social Book said. The business’ television ads made “Mattress Mack” a local celebrity and household name.
“Mack hosts annual Christmas Giveaways furnishing hundreds of homes for 30+ years. He has also donated $4+ million to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for student scholarships,” the Social Book said.
In conjunction with the Super Bowl, Gallery Furniture is hosting the 2022 Big Game Promo in which customers purchasing a Tempur-Pedic mattress set for $3,000 or more or $3,000 in reclining living room furniture, will receive their items free if the Bengals defeat the Rams, the business’ Facebook page said.
Caesars Sportsbook is a division of Caesars Entertainment, Inc., which is a casino-entertainment company, a news release said.
