Six new recruits have signed on to the University of Houston softball program this week, joining the team after graduating high school as the class of 2022.
In a recent release, Head Coach Kristin Vesely said the newest additions include Ayden Allen, Chloe Foster, Trinity Loukanis, Kayla Zaid, Bella Farina and Corine Poncho. All six will be position players, including four infielders.
Allen played on a Prosper High School team that won 50 games in 2019 and 2021.
"Bella gets on base and hits the ball all over the yard. She covers a lot of grass and is a tough out at the plate. She is athletic and she is the type of player we want in our program. She is going to have a great career as a Cougar and (I'm) excited about her future here,” Vesley said in Farina’s scouting report.
Scouting reports show that Foster's high school team won district titles twice during her time there. Loukanis will "add a big bat" to the Cougars' lineup and Poncho will add offensive punch, too. Zaid is expected to bring speed to the team.
According to the release, the six recruits hail from three states with four from Texas, one from Louisiana and another from New York.
The Houston area is heavily represented among the Lone Star contingent, the release states. Deer Park native Zaid, Alvin's Foster and Navasota's Loukanis have cemented their pledges to continue their academic and athletic careers closer to home.
