The University of Houston football team stayed perfect in American Athletic Conference play with a 31-13 home finale win over Memphis on Nov. 19.

The victory pushes Houston's winning streak to 10, according to a school issued press release.

The Cougars (10-1 overall) conclude their conference campaign with an 8-0 record, with their season finale matchup against UConn the Saturday after Thanksgiving up next.

“It is hard to win in college football, and we have won 10 in a row,” head coach Dana Holgorsen said, the Houston Chronicle reported. “I am very proud of this football team.”

Clayton Tune completed 20 passes for 264 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in the victory, the release said.

The former Carrollton Hebron star also matched his season high in rush attempts – 13 – to reel off 59 rushing yards and a score, helping Alton McCaskill and T'Zhawn Henry power the Cougars’ running game to almost 200 yards against the visiting Tigers.

Though Houston defeated Memphis by a comfortable margin, Holgorsen wasn’t pleased with how his team committed 11 turnovers, taking responsibility for one of the Cougars’ few shortcomings of the evening.

“Eleven penalties for 122 yards is just mind-blowing and we did stupid things, and I have got to coach and do better,” he told the Houston Chronicle. “There were undisciplined things that did not get us beat but we have important games ahead of us that we need to clean it up.”

The Cougars experienced a scare during the game when linebacker Donavan Mutin sustained an injury that required a trip to the hospital.

Mutin has since been discharged, according to ABC13.

"Donnie is our emotional leader and team captain," Holgorsen said, the station reported. "We were out there for a while. In my 11, 12 years of being a head coach, I've never had that. I've never had a kid taken off on a stretcher. That was dire. He was moving and talking toward the end of it. It took him awhile to wake up. He was breathing."

It’s unclear whether Mutin will take the field for the UConn game.
