Houston-based rapper Bun B was seen helping a Houston police officer recently as they tended to a stranded motorist.
On Oct. 8, Bun B was leaving Game 2 of the American League Division Series between the Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox when he stopped and pulled over to help a Houston police officer and a motorist stuck on the road, according to Click2Houston.
"Way to go @BunBTrillOG @houstonpolice! There are so many ways to help others as part of our everyday lives," said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales in a tweet.
The interaction was documented by NBC Houston reporter Vanessa Richardson, who spotted Bun B on the side of the road as he helped the officer. There, the 48-year-old rapper, whose real name is Bernard Freeman, and the officer worked together to push the female driver's broken-down vehicle, according to Click2Houston.
"Leaving the Astros game when I noticed Houston legend @BunBTrillOG pull over on the side of the road and help @houstonpolice push a broken down car," Richardson said in a tweet, praising the rappers generosity and including pictures of Bun B and the officer.
While Bun B is regarded as a local legend and a Houston-stalwart for over 30 years, the veteran artist is set to make his solo debut Rodeo Houston on March 11 for Black Heritage Day, despite already performing with other Texas icons, such as Beyoncé and Leon Bridges, according to Houston Daily.
“Honored to play a small part in one of the trillest announcements for the upcoming Rodeo Houston season. Looking forward to @BunBTrillOG’s concert along with others next year. #HTownTakeover #RodeoHouston,” Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said in a tweet in early September.
During his solo concert, Bun B aims to include some of the area’s most well-known rap icons, according to Houston Daily.
