Jake Meyers, the newest outfielder for the Houston Astros on Oct. 7 made his debut in a 6-1 postseason opener as they won against the Chicago White Sox.
Meyers was an outfielder and pitcher for the Nebraska Huskers and toiled with Triple AAA Sugar Land before getting called up by the Astros and knocked an RBI single to send Yordan Alvarez scampering for home in the second inning, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The Astros nabbed Meyers in the 2017 MLB Draft, according to 24/7 Sports.
The Houston Astros shared a video of Meyers during his first time up to bat during the game by tweeting, "Big time players make big time plays #FortheH."
Meyers finished his postseason debut to an impressive 2-for-4 at-bat, joining Alvarez and third baseman Alex Bregman in a very exclusive club, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Jumpstarting the scoreboard for the game, Meyers lined a single to right field which delivered a 1-0 lead against the White Sox. Hitting a one-out single in the fourth, Meyers added another point on the scoreboard for the Astro's from a two-run RBI by Michael Brantley, told by 24/7 sports.
“Behind closed doors, he’s a kid who is always working hard," Brantley said of Meyers, told by 24/7 Sports. "He’s a kid who asks a lot of great questions, is always willing to learn. I’m really excited for him. He had some big swings for us tonight and helped us get the first run on the board."
