Rice University named among top national universities

Rice University in Houston earned a spot in the U.S. News & World Report list of top 40 national universities.

It ranked No. 17 in the 2022 Best National Universities.

"I am so grateful to Rice University for this incredible opportunity and to you, the extraordinary people who make up the Rice community and who have time and again demonstrated our common values and commitment to excellence, creativity and compassion,” David Leebron, current president of Rice, stated in an email he wrote for the faculty and students. “Working together, we have been driven by our desire to contribute to the betterment of our world and by our constant ambition to become an ever better university."

Rice is one of the two Texas schools to make the list, it tied for the 17th best school in the country after placing 16th last year. The University of Texas at Austin tied for 38, according to InnovationMap.

This is not the only honor that Rice has received. It has been named seventh best overall in colleges across the U.S by Niche. The school was also included in Princeton Review's best 387 Colleges in the United States, and tied for 15 in the Wall Street Journal's Higher Education College Rankings.

Leebron who has been the university’s president since 2004 is planning to leave the school next year, InnovationMap reported.
