Kasidi Pickering, a junior centerfielder and pitcher from Atascocita, Texas, has verbally committed to continue her career at the University of Oklahoma, the defending national softball champion, according to a VYPE article.

Pickering made her announcement on Sept 24, expressing gratitude to all of the "hotshot" coaches and players she's worked with, stating they were instrumental in getting her to where she is now.

"Happily like to announce my commitment to the University of Oklahoma to continue my softball career and education," Pickering stated on Twitter.

Pickering's skill and commitment to the sport were also commended by Atascocita coach Ashley Boyd.

"[Kasidi] is an unbelievably gifted player with an insane softball IQ and worth ethic," Boyd stated. "Anytime we have an athlete commit to play and further their education, it's huge. To have a player commit to the top team in the country is incredibly exciting and a testament to how hard she has worked to get herself to this point."

Pickering was named the District 21-6A Most Valuable Player earlier this year in May after a .500 hitting average, 10 home runs and 27 RBI for the Lady Eagles this season, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Additionally, Pickering made five appearances on the mound for Atascocita this season, finishing 2-0 with a 1.58 ERA and 21 strikeouts.

Pickering has been playing softball since she was four years old.
