NBA training camps are just opening and Houston Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone is already celebrating.

“We are 100% vaccinated,” Stone recently told the Houston Chronicle.

Houston’s quick action comes after the team had players miss games last season because of the league’s health and safety protocols, including having their season opener postponed when they did not have enough players available to play.

Back in July, Rockets coach Stephen Silas had a breakthrough case of the virus and credits his quick recovery to being vaccinated.

An NBA spokesman recently said at least 85% of players across the league are now vaccinated, even though the NBA Players Association has refused to agree to a vaccine mandate.

During this week’s media days, The Spurs, Knicks, Lakers, Jazz, Trail Blazers and Hornets all insisted that all of their players are now vaccinated.

At the other end of the spectrum, several high profile players remain unvaccinated, including Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving and Washington Wizards swingman Bradley Beal.

During the team’s media day, Irving remained coy on the subject, even as New York has an ordinance in place requiring all those attending games in the city to be vaccinated.

The San Francisco Department of Public Health has similar requirements, impacting Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins, who likewise remains unvaccinated.

In all, Rolling Stone reports up to 60 players across the league remain unvaccinated.
