Katy Independent School District has been named the best in the Houston area and 13th in Texas, a news release said.
The ranking was by the website Niche, which specializes in helping readers find the best schools, neighborhoods and workplaces.
Niche ranked 1,018 school districts in Texas, Katy Independent School District said in its news release.
“This recognition reflects the deep commitment of our staff and support of our local community to provide exceptional educational experiences to our more than 88,000 students,” said Dr. Ken Gregorski, superintendent of Schools. “I am extremely proud of our educators and staff who work tirelessly to ensure our students are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in school and beyond.”
Two other Houston area schools received an A-plus rating from Niche, the Houston Business Journal reported.
Friendswood ISD was ranked second in Houston and 15th in Texas, the story said. Tomball ISD was ranked third in Houston and No. 26 in Texas.
The top school district in Texas was Eanes Independent School District in the Austin area, the Journal reported.
Niche compiled its 2022 Best School Districts in America list by comparing state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores and other data.
"The Best School Districts ranking is based on rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data and ratings collected from millions of Niche users," the company said.
