Klein Cain star running back Jaydon Blue has announced he will not be suiting up for his senior season.
"After countless hours of evaluation, I have made the decision to forgo my senior season of high school football,” Blue recently posted on social media. “This has been a very difficult decision for my family and I. Football is a brutal sport, and the wear and tear associated with the RB position is undeniable. I plan to take this time to focus on my academics while enhancing my off-the-field training/rehab regimen."
A four-star recruit who has already signed to attend Texas, Blue and his family are reported to have made their decision in consultation with Texas staff members.
“This is a strategic and conscious effort to ensure I am prepared to perform at an elite level at the collegiate rankings during the 2022 season,” Blue added. “I want to thank each of my coaches and teammates at Klein Cain High School. The relationships established have helped mold me into the young man I am today. You have my continued support this season and in the future. This is an incremental step in hopes of one day fulfilling my NFL dreams.”
While starring for Klein Cain, the 5-foot-11-inch, 205-pound Blue amassed 3,767 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns on his 432 carries. As a junior, he was tabbed District 15-6A Offensive MVP and following his sophomore season walked away as Texas District 15-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year.
Blue is expected to enroll early at Texas and be on campus in time for the start of spring practice in 2022.
Klein Cain is also without senior star Aiden Smith this season after the University Interscholastic League unanimously denied his appeal after he was ruled ineligible for changing schools for athletic purposes. Smith transferred to Cain from Klein Collins.
