Former Friendswood Mustangs baseball star Izaac Pacheco visited Comerica Park, the home of the Detroit Tigers of the MLB last week and gave the fans a small taste of the future, taking batting practice at the facility.

Pacheco tweeted about the event, saying, "Couldn’t be happier @tigers."

Detroit assistant general manager David Chadd, assistant hitting coach Mike Hessman and several current Tigers players were on hand to watch Pacheco take some swings. The 2021 second-round pick of the Tigers managed to knock some balls into the right-field box seats.

Pacheco thought Comerica was "huge," expressing fascination over the two cars that sit atop the ballpark's fountain.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pound Pacheco, who is a shortstop and right-hand pitcher, is described by scouts as "light on his feet for his size and rounds the ball well with good footwork." A left-handed batter, Pacheco "has huge offensive upside," his scouting report says.

That's something that fans of the Tigers will certainly anticipate seeing in the coming years, especially considering that the organization has not had a competitive window in some time. The team has not had a winning season since 2016 after staying highly relevant in the MLB for four straight seasons of playoff runs.
