Texans' Johnson named a nominee for 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame Class

Legendary Houston Texans wideout Andre Johnson headlines a list of 10 first-year eligible players nominated for the 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.

In all, more than 120 players are nominated for the class, including fellow receivers Steve Smith and Anquan Boldin. Other first-year eligible players include defensive standouts DeMarcus Ware and Robert Mathis, kick returner Devin Hester, offensive linemen Jake Long and Nick Mangold; defensive lineman Vince Wilfork and defensive back Antonio Cromartie.

The complete roster of nominees includes 65 offensive players, 46 defensive player and 11 special teamers. The list is slated to be trimmed to 25 semifinalists in November and 15 finalists in January. The new class is set to be enshrined in the Canton, Ohio Hall in August of 2022.

Selected by the Texans in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami, Johnson finished with five seasons of at least 1,000 yards receiving and bagged over 1,000 receptions for 14,185 yards and 70 touchdowns over his 14-year career.

Finalists from the 2021 class re-nominated this year are wide receivers Reggie Wayne and Torry Holt; tackle Tony Boselli; defensive end Jared Allen; defensive tackle Richard Seymour; linebackers Sam Mills and Zach Thomas; and defensive backs Ronde Barber and LeRoy Butler.
