The Fort Bend Independent School District (ISD) is mourning the loss of the district's Police Sgt. Richard Frankie, 50, who died due to complications from COVID-19 on Sept. 17.
According to Frankie's obituary posted on Germany & Carden Funeral Directors, Inc., his calling was to serve the community and "make a positive impact in the lives of students."
"Fort Bend ISD police sergeant dies from COVID-19," Fort Bend County Judge K.P. George wrote in a tweet. "Please keep the family and friends of Sgt. Frankie and entire FBISD community in your thoughts and prayers. We grieve with you."
Fort Bend ISD Police Chief David Rider took to Twitter on Monday, Sept. 20 where he shared news of Frankie's passing.
"Richard served @HISDPolice over 24 years and 3 years @FBISD," Rider wrote in his tweet. "Rest In peace Sgt. Frankie, we will take it from here."
The Fort Bend Independent School District Police Department also shared the devastating news.
"Our department is deeply saddened, but we will continue to honor his memory every day," Fort Bend ISD police tweeted. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and all who loved him."
As a Sergeant for Fort Bend ISD PD, Frankie served as a supervisor for the patrol officers, school resource officers and the K9 unit, according to his obituary.
His obituary stated Frankie liked to spend time with his family and friends, ride motorcycles, and take part in K9 training, Frankie was also an active member of Richmond's Grand Parkway Baptist Church. He is survived by his sister and nephew.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Germany and Carden Funeral Directors Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 26. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. the following day at the Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land.
