Atascocita senior lineman Kam Dewberry has confirmed plans to play varsity with the Longhorns this fall season.

“University of Texas OV this fall,” the athlete tweeted late last month.

The popular athlete, with experience playing both right and left tackle throughout his prep career, has lettered for an Atascocita varsity experience since his freshman year. With previous visits to LSU, Ohio State and Texas A&M under his belt, the five-star recruit plans to visit the Sooners in Norman, followed by Austin. He ranked 10th in the nation’s leading offensive tackles list.

The decision for him to stay close to home and participate in Longhorn follows the state’s effort to establish its presence in the recruitment. The team hopes to show signs of improvement on the field despite its pending move to SEC and dividends for Dewberry. He is ranked the 108th prospect and 10th ranked offensive tackle in the country according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Burnt Orange reports.

The athlete began varsity during his freshman season, ranking no. 18, and has since contributed to numerous programs and the Texas Sports Writers Association Class 6A All-State teams, garnering various awards, according to the Houston Chronicle.
