Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Houston) recently expressed her admiration for the newly crowned NBA champions—the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Bucks won the 2021 NBA Finals 4-2 by defeating the Phoenix Suns in a hard-fought game 6, according to NBC News.
“The @NBA Finals MVP @Giannis_An34 scored 50 points to win the NBA championship last night,” Jackson Lee wrote in a July 21 Twitter post. “That is one heck of an accomplishment!”
Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo helped the team win their first championship in 50 years, ESPN reported.
“Congratulations to Giannis and the Milwaukee @Bucks for capturing an NBA title last night,” Jackson Lee tweeted.
Antetokounmpo put together one of the most dominant performances in Finals history, according to ESPN, scoring 50 points to guide Milwaukee to a 105-98 win and the franchise's second title since 1971.
“The Milwaukee Bucks are CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD,” Milwaukee Bucks wrote in July 20 Twitter post.
Antetokounmpo's Finals line of 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.8 blocks per game earned the 26-year-old series MVP honors, ESPN reported. Upon being awarded the Finals MVP trophy, as reported by NBC News, he thanked Milwaukee for believing in him.
Yahoo Sports reports Antetokounmpo’s performance in the NBA Finals was praised on Twitter by many basketball players including Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Trae Young.
ESPN stated that Antetokounmpo is the only player in the history of the NBA under the age of 27 with 5 All-Star and All-NBA selections, multiple MVPs and 1 Finals MVP.
