A local baseball player, who has been highly touted, has made a decision when it comes to his playing future and its not the one many thought he would make.

Caedmon Parker, a 2021 Woodlands Christian graduate, has decided to attend Texas Christian University (TCU) instead of pursing a professional career in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Parker tweeted that he had given his future a lot of thought, but was ready for the challenges that awaited him in college.

“After lots of prayer and conversation, I am able to announce my withdrawal from the 2021 MLB draft and I will be attending TCU in the fall,” he said. “Go (Horned) Frogs!”

The Horned Frogs went 41-19 last year, making it all the way to the NCAA Regionals.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches, Parker is a right handed pitcher, with some experience at the shortstop position who will look to bolster TCU’s bullpen.

Parker told The Courier of Montgomery County that while becoming a professional athlete is a dream of his, he wanted to experience playing baseball at the collegiate level.

“It’s every kid’s dream to go play their sport professionally and be in the NFL, NBA or MLB,” Parker said. “To have all that stuff kind of line up for me, it’s super great, and it’s good to be able to look back at all the tournaments and practices and games I played and all the work you put in to get into these situations. To see it all kind of pay off and kind of the favor you have, it’s super great and unreal.”

Parker's athleticism is considered a positive asset as he also played football. The future Horned Frog throws a curve, a slider and a changeup – scouts believe his pitches “are still works in progress.”

Parker was one of 167 players who had been invited to the draft combine at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Carry, North Carolina.
