Gymnast Simone Biles withdrew from the team Olympic competition after a medical concern arose.
Biles was on the vault when she was removed from competition after speaking with a trainer.
"Simone Biles has withdrawn from the team final competition due to a medical issue. She will be assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions," USA Gymnastics said in a tweet.
The 24-year-old grew up in Spring, Texas, where she still resides.
She said her teammates were worried after she left the team competition.
"They were freaking out," Biles told the Today Show. "They were like crying, and I was like, 'You guys need to relax, you're gonna be fine without me. Go out there, kick some butt just like you've done in training, and just lay it out on the floor and see what happens.'"
The U.S. team continued the competition in her absence, winning silver.
The Russia Olympic Committee team, Vladislava Urazova, took gold.
Now the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history is questionable for the all-around competition set for Thursday, which she dominated five years ago.
"We're gonna take it day by day, and we're just gonna see," Biles told the Today Show.
In the 2016 Games she captured four gold medals, more than any other gymnast in one Games in Olympics history.
"Physically, I feel good, I'm in shape," Biles told the Today Show. "Emotionally, that kind of varies on the time and moment. Coming here to the Olympics and being the head star isn't an easy feat, so we're just trying to take it one day at a time and we'll see."
Biles began her gymnastics career in the American Classic in Houston in 2011.
