In making his recruitment decision final, Ridge Point offensive tackle Calvin Harvey is adamant that the Louisiana Tech University football program checked all the boxes for him.
“Committed,” Harvey posted on Twitter of his decision.
Harvey said he’s covered a lot of ground since making up his mind to take the game seriously just a few years ago. Now rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports, he said he sees Louisiana Tech as the perfect place to continue his growth.
"Really just the family atmosphere that Coach (Skip) Holtz provides to all his players," he told Vype Media. "A big part was also from an education standpoint with the business that I want to study. Also, the location was a big part, being out there in Ruston out in the country allows me to pursue what career I want in my future."
Harvey settled on Louisiana Tech from a list of suitors that included the University of Houston, North Texas and SMU.
“It’s been an eye-opening and hard process at the same time,” Harvey said. ”I really just had to invest time in studying each school and Louisiana Tech came up on top.”
Harvey said everything that took place during the recruitment battle lets him know that he made the right decision in settling on Louisiana Tech.
“They would call me every day, talk to me every night and that just set a path in my mind of where I know I’d be loved,” he said.
