The future is bright for San Jacinto Community College infielder Sabin Ceballos both on and off the diamond.

A freshman at San Jac and hailing from Puerto Rico, Ceballos has already demonstrated potential to springboard his collegiate baseball career into the major leagues.

"It is incredible, it is a unique experience," Ceballos told Houston Daily. "It is like being on another level to which we belong. We are more than a [junior college], we are much more than a baseball program, we are a family."

Ceballos plays catcher as well. He gained firsthand mentorship from Astros short stop Carlos Correa, an alumnus of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy.

The website PerfectGame.org describes the righted-handed 6-foot-3-inch Ceballos as a player with "very quick feet in the infield" and "pure shortstop actions."

According to the stat site, Ceballos throws with "an absolute cannon" with the ability to lob at 99 miles per hour across the diamond.

The freshman plans to leverage his athletic career into NCAA college baseball at a notable university. After collegiate ball, he has his eyes on the MLB and says he will just "continue working until he achieves his dream."

"Baseball is a lifestyle," Ceballos said. "It is a way to get rid of everything that is outside, it is a way to express yourself in another way."

The athlete's memories on the diamond date all the way back to childhood, when his brother and parents were determined to help him reach his highest potential.

"Baseball has taught me that it can get people off the street, that it can unite a country or many, that among so many situations you have fun and that in itself it is a game, and for me it is the best of all," he said.
