Houston-based real estate investment and development firm Midway recently announced that a new public nine-hole, par-3 golf course with a restaurant and bar serving the East River, Houston area is scheduled to open spring of 2022.
Located a mile from downtown, East River 9 will feature a links-style course designed for all skillsets, golf holes ranging from 80 to 150 yards, LED stadium lights for night play and a 12,000-square-foot social putting green.
Course visitors will have access to a family-friendly restaurant and patio bar, Riverhouse Houston, overlooking Buffalo Bayou and Downtown Houston. The restaurant will feature a scratch kitchen menu with a well-rounded beer, wine and spirits selection, an expansive terrace featuring a kids playscape, outdoor games, fire pits and live music and an approachable environment designed to host corporate, social and charity events.
“PGA REACH Southern Texas is excited to have a new presence in Houston’s inner city,” Thomas Hutton, executive director for the Southern Texas PGA said in a press release released by Midway. “We look forward to working with East River 9 to host programs that will welcome juniors, veterans and neighboring residents to the game of golf. PGA REACH Southern Texas’ mission is to impact lives through golf and this facility will do just that!”
The project seeks to create an inviting and recreational environment for all Houstonians, to improve the quality of life of customers, neighbors and employees and to provide a place to enjoy Houston’s culture and natural beauty.
Once fully open, the project will offer numerous full-time jobs for local residents.
