A congresswoman's recent remarks on Israel and the American military has come under fire from both Republicans and Democrats.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota), a member of a group of far left Democrats labeled "The Squad," purportedly compared the U.S. with Hamas and the Taliban and also insinuated during a congressional committee hearing that both American and Israeli militaries have committed war crimes, according to New York Post.

"We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity," Omar wrote in a June 7 Twitter post. "We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan and the Taliban. I asked @SecBlinken where people are supposed to go for justice."

U.S. Rep. Brian Babin (R-Woodville) took to Twitter to denounce the congresswoman's comments.

"The fact that Omar, a sitting U.S. congresswoman, compared America and Israel to ruthless terrorists is offensive and disgusting," Babin wrote in a June 8 Twitter post. "Where’s the condemnation from Democrats and the liberal media?"

The Houston Republican is not alone in his condemnation of the congresswoman's comments. A Democratic California lawmaker also criticized Omar for her remarks, labeling them "outrageous and clearly false," according to FOX News.

"It's not news that Ilhan Omar would make outrageous and clearly false statements about America and Israel. What's newsworthy is that she admits Hamas is guilty of ‘unthinkable atrocities,’" Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif) said, reported FOX News. "It's time for all of Israel's detractors to condemn Hamas. And it’s time for all those of good will to reject any moral equivalency between the U.S. and Israel on one hand, and Hamas and the Taliban on the other."

Increasing tensions between Israel and Hamas came to a boiling point last month and the two sides engaged in an 11-day conflict.

CNBC News reports that more than 200 Palestinians and 12 Israelis died in the fighting before a ceasefire was called.
