The Jersey Village Falcons baseball team staved off elimination twice in the Class 6A regional semifinal to take the third and deciding game from the Pearland Oilers 8-4 on May 29.
Game 3 itself wasn’t without its tribulations for the Falcons, who had to decimate a three-run deficit to beat the Oilers and punch their ticket to the regional final.
“It was an intense game, but we persevered through all adversaries and the Falcons won! WOOOOO!!!!! Regional Finals, here we come," Cypress-Fairbanks ISD administrator Derrick Crowder proclaimed post-game.
Down 4-1 to start the win-or-go-home contest, Jersey Village triggered a four-run explosion in the top of the fourth to send Pearland starter Garrett Coiner away from the mound.
The Falcons would pad their lead late in the game to advance to the Class 6A Region 3 final against Strake Jesuit.
Pearland took Game 1 of the semifinals before Jersey Village forced a Game 3.
