A year after the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out its season, Tomball Rosehill Christian’s baseball program tried to make up for lost time, going as far as the TAPPS Baseball Division IV championship game at the Waco ISD Complex.

Having built a 4-0 lead against Midland Classical, no one could blame the Eagles for having visions of hoisting their third state title since the 2016-2017 back-to-back championship run.

But the Knights had other ideas.

“The Midland Classical Knights score 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th. They are the 2021 Division IV State Baseball Champions!” TxHSBaseball Tweeted on May 15.

Rosehill Christian’s fourth state tournament appearance ended with the four runs they notched before the Midland Classical rally, nine hits, and three costly errors.

Before arriving in Waco, the Eagles clinched district, area, and regional championships, setting up a run that would have the feel of four years ago.

Two Eagles will further their baseball careers at the collegiate level – at the same school.

Alex Forsythe and Jared Starnes each committed to East Texas Baptist University.
