The Bellaire Cardinals ended their season with a 9-2 loss to Stratford in the opening round of the state playoffs of their hard fought three-game series.
The loss dropped the Cardinals to 26-5-1 for the season and ranked No. 9 in the Texas High School Coaches Association rankings.
“After a long day, Bellaire baseball ran out of time against Stratford in the first round of the state playoffs,” a post on the team’s Twitter page said. “There were many great moments to celebrate today and our boys fought hard. Congrats on a great season.”
The first two games of the series ended as one-run affairs, with Stratford winning the opener 2-1 and Bellaire taking game 2 by a score of 8-7.
Going into the series, Bellaire had won four straight and 13 out of 14.
